December 4 to December 12
Our Lady of Guadalupe Nine-Day Novena
(to be prayed each day)
Source: Novena a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe | Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown
Act of Contrition:
O my God,
I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins because of your just punishments, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to sin no more
and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
Amen.
Initial Prayer:
Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of America. We ask you to protect all the nations in this continent and renew their fidelity to Christ and his Church. Inspire their government leaders with desires for equity and rectitude. Protect us from injustices and discrimination. Care for our children. Preserve family unity. May your Image always manifest your mercy, compassion, and your protection. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Final Prayer:
Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, Mother of the True God. Through Saint Juan Diego, the smallest of your children, you say today to the peoples of the American continent: “Am I not here I who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the fountain of your joy?”
With deep gratitude, we recognize throughout the centuries all the signs of your maternal love, your constant help, compassion, and defense of us, the poor and simple of heart. With this filial confidence, we ask you, as in Bethlehem, to give us your Divine Son, because only He can renew our existence and the path to build a just and fraternal society.
To you, Celestial Missionary of the new world, with your mestizo complexion, you luminously manifest your identity and unity. We entrust the destiny of our peoples to you. To you, Herald of the Gospel of Christ, Star of the New Evangelization, we consecrate the missionary work of your pilgrims. O Sweet Lady! O Our Mother! O Ever-Virgin Mary! Your presence makes us brothers and sisters.
Accept with love this plea from your children and bless this beloved land of yours with the gifts of reconciliation and peace. Amen.
First Day
December 4
Mary, Mother of Christ, hear the prayer of the Church in the Americas, a people rich in promise, a people in need of God’s mercy. Just as you first brought faith to this land, remain with us as we construct communion and solidarity. Amen.
Second Day
December 5
Mary, Mother of the Americas, hear the many voices of our land, pleading for the mercy of your Son, searching for the voice of the shepherd to lead us home. Hear the praise of your sons and daughters and ask your Son to free us from the pain of addiction, selfishness, and misery. Amen.
Third Day
December 6
Mary, Mother of Compassion, hear the prayer of those most in need of the mercy of God. Hear the child who is starving, the elderly person with no one to love them, the mother tempted to abandon her child. Pray for us to the Author of life, that the fruit of your womb may keep them safe and protect them. Amen.
Fourth Day
December 7
Mary, Mother of Conversion, plead to your son for the virtue of hope. Pray that he may free us from doubt and give us the courage of God’s children. Pray to our Lord, that the light of the world may dispel the darkness of our fear, transforming our hearts of stone in the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, your Son. Amen.
Fifth Day
December 8
Mother of all the saints, pray for your children in the Americas. For those who try to imitate your example in the humble service of the Gospel of life for those most in need. Pray, Mother of the Americas, that your Son may lead us from the darkness of sin to the light of his glory. Amen.
Sixth Day
December 9
Mary, Mother of unity, intercede for the Church in the Americas, that all the disciples may be gathered together and form the one people of the New Covenant. Mary, Mother of the human race, ask your Son to pour out upon us a spirit of compassion and solidarity. Amen.
Seventh Day
December 10
Mary, Mother of the Church, help the Church to follow your example of great love and profound humility. May we be obedient with you to the commandment of love, and offer all our efforts to seek the glory of Christ, serving the needs of our brothers and sister. Amen.
Eighth Day
December 11
Mary, Mother of all Christians, hear the humble prayer of all those who adore your Son, Jesus, our hope and salvation. That the Church of the Americas, under the maternal protection of your prayers, may always experience uninterrupted peace. Amen.
Ninth Day
December 12 — Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
God of power and mercy, You blessed all of the peoples of the Americas at the Tepeyac with the presence of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe. May the prayer of our Blessed Mother help us to accept one another as brothers and sisters. May your justice and peace in our hearts reign throughout the world.
