“Hidden in Plain Sight” – Documentary Screening – Feb 22nd

February 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Free

February is Black History Month, and the Multicultural Ministry team and St. Ignatius Racial Justice Committee warmly invite you to attend the premiere screening of Hidden in Plain Sight, a documentary exploring the history of Black Catholics in the Archdiocese of Boston.

  • When: Sunday, February 22, 2026
  • Time: 6:30 PM
  • Where: St. Ignatius of Loyola Church

This 30-minute documentary, produced by the Secretariat for Evangelization and Discipleship (SED), features archival footage of and interviews with members of the Black Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Boston. Filmed and edited by SED Communications and Content Consultant Ann Gennaro, the documentary offers a brief historical overview of the efforts of key religious communities and individuals whose pastoral care and leadership enabled Black Catholics in the United States—and in Boston—to build an infrastructure that fostered spaces to gather, celebrate, deepen their faith, and be seen, while contributing significantly to the life and history of our Church and Archdiocese.

Following the screening, please join us for a light supper, brief and informative panel discussion with Dr. Shawn Copeland, Rashaun Martin, Richard Cellini.

For more information, or to host a screening at your parish, prayer group, religious education class, school, or classroom, please contact us at multiculturalministry@rcab.org. We would be happy to share the link to the full documentary with you.
